I love being a carer because giving back to the community is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list. With bringing a smile to someone’s day, even through the hard times, it is the most gratifying role I can participate in. Bringing Joy to their last marathon in life is my way of paying it forward, and for that I am blessed. I am naturally a loving, and nurturing person and being a care professional means I get to be me in my role because caring is love and service in action. There is nothing more satisfying than helping a senior live a healthy, vibrant life To be able to help a client remain in their own home for as long as possible and for them to retain the ability and right to make their own choices and decisions, for me is a privilege. To be able to establish a mutual trusting relationship with a client is, I believe, paramount to their mental and physical health. My most rewarding placement was helping a lovely client living in beautiful Guernsey, to become completely independent after suffering a stroke the previous year. The day I finally left her was sad in one way as we had become very close. However, to see her recover so that she no longer required full-time live-in care, was simply wonderful. I believe that being a carer is the most rewarding profession of them all, especially for a people centred personality like mine. Going to bed everyday knowing that I have helped a vulnerable adult live independently in the home they love is the most fulfilling thing for me. I love that everyday is different however some days are challenging when my client is having a bad day, but that’s no problem because those challenges enable me to apply my problem solving skills and create a more personalised approach in meeting my client’s needs. In short, I simply enjoy making a difference in the life of someone under my care. In my career as a professional carer I have supported both children and vulnerable adults for many years because providing support is what I’m good at and extremely proud of. What I love the most about being a carer is that, I get the opportunity to look after people in need of my support and meeting their personal care needs. I generally have love for all things food related and as a carer I get to share this by cooking with my clients. I have found this this type of work immensely rewarding and my aspiration is to expand my awareness and experience as a carer. What Our Clients Are Saying AMIRAH
